Initially, I worked with them to update the National Register of Historic Vessels (NRHV) &#8211; a database of over 1,200 historic vessels which can be seen online at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalhistoricships.org.uk.\">www.nationalhistoricships.org.uk.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Infrastructure Audit<\/span><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/researchthepast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Ocelot-Gannet-The-Big-Store-small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-61 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/researchthepast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Ocelot-Gannet-The-Big-Store-small-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Ocelot, Gannet, The Big Store small\" width=\"196\" height=\"147\" srcset=\"https:\/\/researchthepast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Ocelot-Gannet-The-Big-Store-small-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/researchthepast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Ocelot-Gannet-The-Big-Store-small.jpg 333w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 196px) 100vw, 196px\" \/><\/a><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300;\">From July 2007 to February 2008 I was commissioned by NHS-UK to undertake an Infrastructure Audit of all the skills and facilities available for the repair and maintenance of historic vessels in the UK. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300;\">This project was directly in response to comments from owners of craft on the NRHV, who had experienced increasing difficulty in maintaining their historic ships in a world where old techniques and skills are dying out without the commercial demand for them.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300;\">The project culminated in an online Directory of Skills &amp; Services, listing over 500 craftsmen which is available via: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shipshapenetwork.org.uk\">www.shipshapenetwork.org.uk<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Project Work<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300;\">Since 2009, I have worked as project manager for NHS-UK undertaking policy and casework for them.<\/span>\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #993300;\">Some of the projects I have been involved with include: Keeping History Afloat; the Shipshape East Anglia (SEA) project; the Shipshape Heritage Training Partnership (SHTP) Project and the War &amp; the Sea project.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">In March 2017 I was appointed Director of NHS-UK and look forward to overseeing the work of the organisation in the years to come.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 2006, I was employed as a consultant by National Historic Ships UK (NHS-UK) &#8211; the official voice for historic vessels in the UK.
